All electrical components are encapsulated and the unit is virtually maintenance free: There are no slip rings to cause interference against electrical equipment; the outlet supply cable to the battery cannot become entangled; there are no separate blades and the unit is vibration free and silent in operation.

This type of vertical axis wind turbine gives lower power output than similarly sized horizontal axis turbines. However, for remote power solutions where dependability is more important than sheer power, they are absolutely excellent. Use a Forgen 500 for lighter loads, and a Forgen 1000 where your power needs are a bit greater. For a truly indestructible solution, use the Forgen 1000 with side bearing.

Forgen also make a 24 Volt version of all their wind turbines for the same price as the 12 Volt ones. Low temperature models are also available that would even be suitable for use in Antarctica!
